Frequently asked questions

Probably. The Ventrac 4520P with dual wheels is rated for continuous operation on slopes up to 30 degrees. That covers the vast majority of residential acreage in the Pullenvale area. We assess the slope before the first job — by topographic map and on the ground during the initial site walk. If any section exceeds 30 degrees, we'll tell you upfront. We won't attempt it.

Because clients deserve to know what they're paying before we start. The day rate is $1,600 + GST. Fuel is charged separately at actual cost. Transport is included in the day rate. There are no other charges. The invoice you receive will show exactly those numbers.

Yes. Every job is done by Andrew personally — there is no subcontracted crew. If we need access to your property when you're not home, we'll confirm arrangements in advance. We'll let you know when we arrive and when we're done.

We'll estimate it at the site walk. The main factors are property size, vegetation density, terrain steepness, how recently the property was last maintained, and the presence of surface rock. A 5-acre property in reasonable condition typically takes less than a full day. A 10-acre property that hasn't been touched in 18 months might take two. We invoice for actual days worked, within the range we quoted.

We don't slope mow in wet conditions. Wet ground makes slopes unsafe and the weight of the machine tears up wet turf. If weather forces a postponement, we reschedule to the next available dry day. No charge for the postponed visit.

In the early months, lead time is short — often within a week. As the client book grows, lead times will extend. The best way to secure a regular slot is to commit to a recurring contract, which locks in your place in the schedule.

Two things. First, a site walk so we can assess the terrain and plan the approach. Second, disclosure of any hazards we need to know about: buried obstacles (rocks, concrete, old stumps, steel, fence wire), septic fields and irrigation systems, soft fill, wet seeps, animals on the property, and any areas or native vegetation you want left alone.

A reasonable question, and one worth asking. A standard ride-on mower is fine on flat ground or gentle slopes up to about 10 degrees. Above that, most domestic machines are operating outside their design envelope, and the rollover risk increases significantly. If the slopes are the parts of the property that are being left unmowed, or the ones you're nervous about, that's usually the answer. If they're genuinely interested in self-managing steep terrain, the Useful Resources page lists suppliers of slope-rated equipment. We're happy to give you an honest opinion at the site walk, even if the conclusion is that you don't need us.

Most of these notices relate to category 3 restricted invasive plant obligations on properties adjacent to creek lines or conservation areas, or to category 1 or 2 restricted plants requiring urgent management or eradication. The letter will specify which species are involved and what Council expects. Regular slashing and mowing addresses the mechanical management component for most species; chemical treatment for established infestations requires a licensed applicator. We're happy to discuss what we can contribute to a management plan at the site walk.

We can give a broad day-range estimate based on property size and photographs, but we won't commit to a firm quote without seeing the property. This protects both of us. Slope mowing on terrain we haven't assessed is not something we'll do.
