Acreage mowing in Pinjarra Hills.
On the northern bank of the Brisbane River, sixteen kilometres from the CBD. Private, quiet, and not somewhere most operators are in a hurry to get to.
Pinjarra Hills is an easy suburb to miss on a map. It sits on the northern bank of the Brisbane River between Pullenvale and the river, accessed primarily along Moggill Road and Pinjarra Road. With fewer than 800 residents across 6.8 square kilometres, it is one of the lower-density suburbs in the western Brisbane postcode. Properties here are large, private, and typically set back from the road behind established vegetation — the kind of suburb where you can live for years without your neighbours knowing your schedule.
The University of Queensland's Pinjarra Hills research campus occupies 282 hectares of the suburb between Pullenvale Road and the Brisbane River. The remainder is predominantly acreage residential, with large lots bordering the river and a scattering of rural-residential holdings across the ridgeline above Moggill Road.
The terrain
Pinjarra Hills is flatter than Pullenvale or Upper Brookfield, but it is not flat. The land rises from the river flats to the ridgeline above Moggill Road, and on that rise there are sections of meaningful slope that become maintenance challenges. The older housing stock — many homes date from the 1970s — sits on blocks where the back section may not have seen regular maintenance for years.
The riparian vegetation along the Brisbane River boundary is the main weed management challenge. Para grass is prevalent along the river margins and drainage lines. Cats claw creeper and Madeira vine are present in established creek-line vegetation, and Singapore daisy appears on disturbed, sunny sections along Moggill Road and track margins.
The Riverside Equestrian Centre and the proximity of the Moggill Pony Club means some Pinjarra Hills properties are set up for horses, and the wild tobacco tree toxicity consideration applies here as it does in Moggill.
A quiet suburb with specific access considerations
Pinjarra Hills has no schools, shops, or commercial centres of its own. Residents depend on Pullenvale, Brookfield, and Kenmore for everything. The roads within the suburb are mostly informal — narrow, irregular, following the terrain and old property boundaries rather than a planned street grid. Some properties have access tracks that need to be assessed for trailer access before the first visit.
We flag this because it matters for scheduling and scope. We ask about access and track conditions during the site walk, and if there are any questions about whether the trailer can get to the work area, we sort that out before booking the job.
What we do in Pinjarra Hills
We service acreage properties of 5 acres and above. Pinjarra Hills jobs typically combine the finish mower on the flatter sections with the Tough Cut deck on any sloped ground and overgrown margins. River-frontage properties often have a significant margin of dense riparian vegetation that is outside the scope of mechanical mowing — we identify what's achievable during the site walk and are clear about what requires a licensed contractor for chemical treatment.
Pricing
Day rate: $1,600 + GST. Fuel at actual cost, receipt attached. Transport included.
Pinjarra Hills properties are generally less demanding in terrain than Pullenvale or Upper Brookfield, and a maintained 5 to 8-acre property often runs less than a full day. Properties with significant river-margin vegetation, a long maintenance interval, or access track considerations may take longer. We estimate at the site walk and invoice for actual time worked.
